exhibition catalogue

Zoe Leonard showed work at the Wexner Center for the Arts and helped create this catalogue for her exhibition. The photographs in the catalogue trace the “layered, frayed, and quirky” beauty of a fading way of life. Analogue studies both the vanishing city storefronts and the endangered status of photography itself. This same idea followed through in the design of the piece. The cover is reminiscent of library binding–simple, unassuming and reminiscent of the past.

This was an exploration using one object, a film reel and one letter. The lowercase Bodoni “f” was chosen because the strokes and curves of the letter mirror and integrate well within the shape of the reel. More elements were then added to the design. It was a great challenge to successfully organize many pieces within a single composition.
